Description

From a vineyard over 80 years old, located in a extreme area of San Carlos. 85% Malbec and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. 50% whole bunch fermented in a semi-open fermenter, “while the extreme vineyard is vinified 100% de-stemmed in open tops with a long infusion technique. Both wines aged separately in stoneware amphorae and a mixture of used and new barrels for over 20 months before blending shortly before bottling.

Black fruit and cedarwood. Super-concentrated, it shows lovely texture and freshness with star-bright acidity and a certain stony minerality, combining the plushness and concentration of the Malbec with the fresh focus of the Cabernet Sauvignon.

The 2022 Malbec Paraje Altamira, a blend of 85% Malbec and 15% Cabernet Franc, hails from San Carlos. It delivers a mountain herbal note reminiscent of tomato leaf, accompanied by blackberry and plums, along with orange peel and kumquat. The Cabernet component adds a long, dry finish with a sandalwood layer. This expressive wine has fine, layered depth, juicy flow and delicate tannins. It offers brightness and length, with chalk playing a secondary role. This clever red blend contrasts the plush Malbec with a more compact Cabernet Sauvignon mouthfeel delicious.
