The 2019 Clos Cantenac comes from the 6-hectare vineyard owned by Martin Krajewski (see Chateau Seraphine in Pomerol). This instantly displays commendable breeding on the nose thanks to its detailed scents of black cherries mingling with pressed iris and allspice. The palate feels cohesive and prioritizes elegance over horsepower. Modest grip with cracked black pepper and dark chocolate surface alongside black plum and salted liquorice towards the persistent finish. This is the finest Clos Cantenac that I have encountered from barrel. 8,000 bottles produced. [Neal Martin, 15/06/2020]

This wine is made from 100% Merlot and is being aged in French oak barrels, 40% new, for 12 months. The alcohol came in at 14%. The 2019 Clos Cantenac comes galloping out of the glass with bold, energetic scents of baked black cherries, mulberries and crushed blackberries plus hints of menthol, chocolate box, pencil lead and forest floor. The medium to full-bodied palate is laden with juicy black fruit, framed by rounded, approachable tannins and bags of freshness, finishing long and graceful. [Lisa Perrotti-Brown, 12/06/2020]
