Eclectic, acclaimed, and exclusively sourced by Museum Wines.
This month’s top five sellers prove just how dynamic South African wine has become. Three hail from the Helderberg, a hotspot where reputation meets altitude; the others showcase just how eclectic our producers can be—Cinsault from Darling, Sangiovese from Polkadraai, and a finely tuned blend from Franschhoek.
These aren’t supermarket shelf-fillers. Each comes from a niche producer whose wines have critics buzzing and collectors quietly stocking up—wines that are tough to find unless you know where to look. Luckily, that’s where we come in.
Below you’ll find our September standouts, linked and ready to order before they disappear.

“This is an incredibly intense and serious expression from Darling with almost Burgundian hints of wild strawberries, pink musk, rose petals, salty black currant and a broody red cherry pastille undertone. Fabulous focus and power, but also seamless and soft, with silky fine tannins, beautifully integrated mouthwatering tangy acids and a long, creamy, candied red apple finish. A majestically classy old vine example of Darling Cinsault to enjoy now in its youth or over the next 8 to 10 years.” – Greg Sherwood MW.

“The Silk Weaver is made with Sangiovese – a rare find in South Africa – grown on a pergola on the western end of the Helderberg. It’s very true to this tricky Italian variety, with tobacco leaf and wild herb aromas, redcurrant and summer berry flavours and savoury tannins. 2024-29” – Tim Atkin MW.

“Camissa means ‘sweet water for all’ in Kora, the Khoi language of the Cape, and is only produced every few years when the blend changes with each release. The 2020 edition is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot made from fruit all sourced in the Franschhoek Valley, which is then matured in 30% new French oak barriques for 24 months before bottling. The 2020 offers up soft toned fragrant aromatics of violets and dried herbs, sweet cedar, red currants and cranberry fruits alongside generous notes of chocolate praline, tannery leather, graphite and freshly brewed breakfast tea. The palate is fleshy and creamy textured, medium bodied with a plush harmonious mouthfeel with supple soft tannins and delicately fresh, integrated acids. Plenty of accomplished winemaking on display here for a wine that definitely over delivers at its price point. Enjoy this delicious red blend on release and over the next 5 to 8+ years.” – Greg Sherwood MW.

“It is impossible not to be positively influenced by the 2021 vintage on this new release bottle of Cabernet Franc! Fortunately, the Mira 2021 delivers in spades, boasting rich, intricate aromatics of floral perfume, berry fruit, and oak spice. The bouquet leads with a medley of pressed violets, cherry blossom, and sweet cedar spice before ripe, bright notes of wild strawberry, red currant, and red plum surge to the fore. The oak is delicate, caressing, and finely integrated, expressing itself with a delicate spicy sapidity and a gentle vanilla pod kiss. On the palate, the wine is impressively silky, smooth, and harmonious, with bright, racy acids underpinning weightlessly textured layers of red currant, blackberry, and boysenberry fruits. A wonderfully precise, articulate wine that continues Uva Mira’s sterling reputation for producing premium, eye-catching Cabernet Franc wines in the Helderberg. Drink on release and over the next 10 to 12+ years.”- Greg Sherwood MW.
