Description
Kaapse Vonkel Brut is a fresh and elegant Cap Classique with vibrant citrus and green apple aromas, complemented by subtle biscuit and brioche notes. The palate is crisp and refreshing, with fine bubbles and a balanced acidity. Made from handpicked grapes, the wine undergoes fermentation in stainless steel tanks with a portion of Chardonnay fermented in older oak barrels for added complexity. Aged on lees for 20 months, it offers a sophisticated, well-rounded profile.
Food pairing: Oysters, smoked salmon, creamy cheeses.
Producer Profile
Founded in 1688 by Frenchman Jacques Malan, Simonsig has always stood out in South Africa’s rich landscape of wineries. Indeed, thanks to the family’s incomparable winemaking experience and tradition, Simonsig-branded wines have always been considered benchmarks for the region, often proving to be innovative. When people talk about Simonsig, they also talk about the history of Méthode Cap Classique, which is the South African classic method first produced by the Stellenbosch winery itself. The year was 1971.
