“For us everything in life is about camaraderie, about savouring moments with those closest to you. However, camaraderie is not only between friends but also between the farmer, workers in the vineyards and vines and how the the final product is shared between friends over a good meal. The stamps show a bit of our heritage with the ship symbolising the Dutch settlers to the Cape and Springbok being our South African National animal.”

Produced from 66% Chenin Blanc from a Lammershoek Estate 1966 old vine vineyard blended with 33% of Chenin Blanc from a 1978 Paardeberg vineyard. 70% was aged in concrete and 2 x 500 litre barrels. Lovely and expressive and impressively complex but also very grown-up showing aromatics of tangerine, peach, oyster shell, and orange oil hints that melt into a crushed granite minerality. Sleek, intensely focused and steely, this is a more serious, salty, restrained expression of Chenin Blanc that will definitely appeal to collectors and connoisseurs alike. Such a unique old vine style of premium Chenin Blanc and a real flagship in Lukas s range. (96+/100 Greg Sherwood MW) [Greg Sherwood, 01/01/2023]
