The 2022 Sakkie Mouton Sand Erf Vermentino is a unique and exceptional wine, produced from a tiny vineyard on the West Coast, where just 390 bottles were made. The vines grow in sandy soils near Koekenaap, a region known for its coastal influence. This wine offers lifted aromas of lily, jasmine, and bamboo, giving it a fragrant and delicate bouquet. On the palate, it’s tight and linear, showcasing a characteristic salinity with flavors of quince, pear, and citrus. The wine has a lovely phenolic grip, which makes it built to last and improve with age. Its natural fermentation and extended lees contact contribute to its complexity, and it’s bottled unfined and unfiltered for maximum purity.
