Incredibly complex and intricate, displaying aromatics of dried potpourri, spicy red currant, earthy black berries, dried herbs, hint of charcoal, graphite and dusty granitic spice. The palate is medium bodied and incredibly harmonious with fine grained mineral tannins and a bright, crunchy acidity that adds plenty of vitality and energy.

Description

Cabernet Sauvignon 66%, Cabernet Franc 17%, Merlot 17%

Aged for 20 months in oak barrels, the wine is richer and broader than its Cabernet Franc-driven counterpart, with red and black berry flavors and hints of vanilla and spice. While it is still evolving, with tannins yet to fully integrate, it retains freshness and restraint with dry, pointed tannins.

This wine is a tribute to the Winshaw family’s dedication to sustainability and regenerative farming, and it honors their pioneering great-grandfather. A cellar-worthy wine, it promises longevity and is a brilliant blend from the heart of Stellenbosch.

Food Pairing:
Best paired with grilled steak, lamb, roast beef, hard cheeses, or charcuterie.

Tasting Notes

Really lovely nose – raspberry liqueur, florist-shop botanicals, caraway seed. Lusciously ripe but that ripeness is kept tightly in check by tannins and the contours of the oak. Fresh, bright raspberry and redcurrant, and a kind of caraway/anise spiciness that also brings cool, earthy freshness. Firm, grainy tannins which lock in to the red flesh of the fruit with remarkable grace. It s a broad-shouldered, rich wine that yet holds itself with finesse. [Tamlyn Currin, 25/03/2026]
