The small hillside estate in Green Valley reveals a luminous straw yellow and fragrant citrus blossoms, Asian pear, welcoming bouquet of apple blossom and lemon zest. Candied ginger, green apple peel, and white fig appear on the palate, punctuated by notes of shaved almonds and honeycomb. The soft texture and complexity of this wine evoke an understated elegance, accented by crushed rock and salinity that lend it an endless finish.
Description
The 2020 Ellen Lane Estate Chardonnay is the final release from this small hillside vineyard in Green Valley. This minimally-intervention wine showcases a luminous white gold hue with a slightly hazy appearance. A bouquet of citrus blossoms, honeycomb, and white fig is complemented by hints of shaved ginger and flakey sea salt. The palate is refined with a soft texture, crushed rock minerality, and vibrant acidity, delivering a focused, lingering finish. Aged for 9 months in French oak (18% new), this Chardonnay embodies precision and depth.

Producer Profile
An intense Sonoma Coast pinot, filled with notes of graphite and minerally slate, informing a subdued core of plum and blackberry. This pinot threads the needle just about perfectly, never becoming overly fruit-heavy — or really even fruit-focused at all — and avoiding the common, modern trap of falling into a beefy, umami-heavy funk. Ample acidity keeps the wine perked up and alive, touched just so with raspberry and cherry as it develops in glass. Best at cellar temperature but incredibly versatile — I enjoyed it greatly as an aperitif and just as much with a hearty Caribbean pork shoulder.
