    Description

The 2018 Holden Manz Elysium is a wine of extraordinary depth and complexity, matured for 24 months in new French oak barrels. It presents an intense deep ruby color and a rich, aromatic nose with bold notes of black cherry, dark chocolate, and savory nuttiness. Layers of ripe strawberry, blueberry, and a hint of forest floor, with a whisper of white truffle, create an inviting bouquet. The palate is full-bodied and intense, with refined, supple tannins and a long, lingering finish. Mocha, anise, and nutmeg combine in a broad flavor profile, supported by fine acidity that balances the wine’s complexity.

Food Pairing: Perfect with succulent slow-roasted pork belly, braised game birds, venison, or hearty vegetable dishes.

    Producer Profile

A family owned wine producer located in the heart of the Franschhoek Valley. Established by owners Gerard Holden (a British investment banker in another life) & Migo Manz in 2010. The 22ha estate is situated between the Franschhoek River and Stony Brook at 300m above sea level.  With only 16 ha under vine, their focus has always been red grape varieties, though their stellar white wines, from the reserve Chardonnay, to the Chenin Blanc, and now Semillon requires further inspection. Best you read the critic’s notes and taste, to see for yourself!
