    Description

The 2018 Clos du Jaugueyron, Nout, from Margaux is a stunning expression of the Margaux terroir, showcasing purity and concentration. The hot 2018 summer allowed the grapes to fully ripen, yielding a wine of dense, concentrated flavors. Made from 55% Merlot and 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from 29-year-old vines in the biodynamic ‘Le Tertre’ vineyard, this wine is fermented with ambient yeasts and aged for a year in a mix of new and 1-year-old oak barrels. Expect aromas and flavors of black forest gâteau, black cherry, dark chocolate, mulberry, earthiness, red florals, and wet stone. The plush tannins and full body are complemented by medium+ acidity and a long, satisfying finish.

    Producer Profile

Michel Theron moved to Bordeaux in 1988 from the Languedoc in the south of France to study winemaking. His original plan was to complete his studies there, and then move back to the Languedoc to take over the family estate, but love prevailed when he met his Bordelaise wife. Not long after, the couple purchased a small parcel in the village of Cantenac in the Haut-Medoc in 1993 and produced their first vintage in 1994. The estate is now certified biodynamic and covers 7 hectares in Cantenac, Arsac, and Margaux on soils of gravel, sand, and some clay.
