This wine has an inky black colour and an explosive nose where a concentration of fruits blends with aromas of vanilla and toasted bread. What the nose suggests, the palate confirms: the wine is rich and fleshy, full of dark fruits with exceptional elegance and length. The tannins are firm and beautifully structured.

Description

Cabernet Sauvignon in all its glory.

Since the exceptional 2000 vintage and all the years that allow it, at Château Haut Breton Larigaudière, a special cuvée has been produced. It was named “Le Créateur,” a translation of the Flemish family name of the owners, “De Schepper.” Le Créateur was produced in 2000, 2001, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2015. The grape variety consists exclusively of Cabernet Sauvignon.

Vinification and aging
Cold pre-fermentation maceration, 15 to 30 days in vats. Each operation is adapted according to the vintage and the raw material. Each vat is analyzed independently. Tasting of the juices follows the tasting of the grapes and the health assessment carried out in the vineyard and determines the applied process. The batches intended for the cuvée “Le Créateur” are aged for 18 months exclusively in new oak barrels.

Tasting Notes

Greg Sherwood 95

This pure 100% Cabernet Sauvignon shows a beautifully complex and intricate aromatics of fresh violets, black cherry, dried bay leaf spice, red currants and black plum with hints of tilled earth, black tea and fresh tannery leather. The palate displays a beautiful crunchy freshness and definition with powerful linear tannins and a stony minerality supported by layers of creme de cassis and black berry fruits, a delicate wood spice, freshly brewed tea and delicate herbal notes on the long creamy finish. Drink this classy wine now and over the next 10+ years. [Greg Sherwood MW, 09/11/2025]
