Now Pouring: Hazendal Rosé by Kiara Scott — £18.99
We’re delighted to welcome Hazendal Estate to the Museum Wines portfolio, and with it, the luminous return of Kiara Scott. Formerly of Brookdale and now head winemaker at the historic Hazendal Estate in the Bottelary Hills of Stellenbosch, Kiara made history in 2024 as the first woman of colour to win the Diners Club Winemaker of the Year award, and rightly so. This elegant Pinot Noir Rosé is her first release from the estate, and it’s a beauty.
Crafted entirely from Bottelary Pinot Noir, the Hazendal Rosé carries more than just a sense of place. The label features the Pleiades star cluster, known across continents and cultures for millennia. From the Māori Matariki to Japan’s Subaru, from ancient Greece to Druid lore, the Pleiades, also known as the Seven Sisters, have long symbolised love, renewal, harvest, and the mysteries of the night sky.
In South Africa, they are known as IsiLimela, the “digging stars.” For the Nama people, their annual appearance marked the time to prepare the soil for planting. In one legend, the Seven Sisters are the daughters of the sky god. When their husband, Aldebaran, shoots his arrow (Orion’s sword) at three zebras (Orion’s belt), he misses. Fearing the lion (Betelgeuse) guarding the zebras, he dares not retrieve it, and so he still sits there, a cosmic hunter forever watching. A fitting metaphor, perhaps, for the start of Kiara’s new growing season at Hazendal. The wine? A perfect start.
At just £18.99, this wine is not just a summer sipper, it’s a story in a glass. The rosé is elegant, expressive, and joyfully drinkable, perfect for long lunches, sundowners, and conversations that matter. Best stock up for the warm weather ahead, you wouldn’t want to get caught out.

Hazendal Estate Wines…
Seashell pink. Aromatics open with fresh strawberry, white peach, a hint of white cranberry, and the clean purity of wet stone—all carried by the transparent, ethereal fruit character of the Bottelary’s unique, light soils. On the palate, crunchy pink grapefruit and mixed berries lead to a core of deep raspberry and tangy acidity. Understated, with a stony texture and a pure, limpid structure; a fine thread of white pepper spice lifts and sculpts, leading to a bone-dry, precise finish.
