The Mira Chardonnay 2024 has just arrived at Museum Wines, and Greg Sherwood MW has given it 94 points, describing it as a “classically styled Chardonnay” with lemon, lees, savoury biscuit and saline freshness, concluding that it “will appeal to all Burgundy lovers.”
And at £32.99, it offers a rather compelling way into the Uva Mira style.
Perched high on the Helderberg above False Bay, Uva Mira is one of Stellenbosch’s coolest sites, with vineyards reaching up to 620 metres above sea level. Winemaker Christiaan Coetzee has built the estate around wines of precision, freshness and restraint rather than sheer power, and Chardonnay is one of the varieties where that approach really shines.

The more ambitious expression of Uva Mira Sauvignon Blanc. Sing-a-Wing has long been one of the estate’s signature whites, named after a poem written by owner Toby Venter for his wife.
Greg Sherwood MW previously described the wine as a serious expression of Sauvignon Blanc, combining crystalline purity with freshness, savoury complexity and mineral texture.
