Description
This is a rich and elegant Super Tuscan from the renowned Tenuta San Guido winery, producers of the acclaimed Sassicaia. A fine red, this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot opens with bright aromas of red fruit and dark berries with just a hint of earthiness and savoriness. Full-bodied on the palate, great ripeness of fruit and grippy tannins indicate the elegance of this bottle.
Tasting Notes
Greg Sherwood 95
A classical blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot from 18-year-old vines, the 2023 displays a deep dark opaque colour suggesting a broody aromatics which is indeed tightly packed with red and black berry fruits, damson plum and sun-dried black cherry laced with sweet baking herbs and subtle hoisin plum sauce nuances. The energy on the palate is notable, the acids bright and tangy, combing with sweet savoury berry fruits, creamy tannins, and a spicy, mineral-tinged length. Beautiful mid-palate weight with a long, intense, potent finish. This is another serious release indeed! Drink from 2026 to 2038+. [Greg Sherwood MW, 07/04/2025]

Full bottle 1,262 g. 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot picked between 4 September and 5 October. Fermented in tank and then aged for 12 months in mainly French barriques but 5% American oak (40% new oak overall). First bottle had mild TCA. Second bottle: Mid, shaded garnet. Definitely a baby brother to its stablemate Sassicaia. The relationship is clear! Not flashy and a little restrained with a dry, balsam finish. Very pure and savoury with no specious sweetness. Real energy to this wine! Very impressive. But I’d cellar it for a while. (JR) [21/03/2025]
