The Vilafonté winery is the very first American-South African experiment in the wine industry. The American Zelma Long, one of America’s best-known winemakers, and the South African Mike Ratcliffe wanted to create something very special at the foot of Simonsberg Mountain. On the 42 hectares, the best wines are created with influences from both wine cultures. Vilafonté’s winemakers concentrate on the cultivation of four noble grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Malbec.
