|Uva Mira are no strangers to accolades for their wines. They can boast being the first South African winery to achieve the trophy for best Bordeaux Blend at the Six Nations Wine Challenge which was awarded to their flagship wine O.T.V. whilst The Dance Cabernet Franc scored Double Gold at the same event|
Their success isn’t limited to the top wines though, The Mira Cabernet Sauvignon was named Best South African red by Mundus Vin in 2019 whilst its stablemate The Mira Chardonnay has just been ranked the 5th best Chardonnay of 2020 by The Drinks Business. This somewhat reinforces the quote on the image above from 2018, demonstrating that their wines are consistently worthy of global recognition rather than one hit wonders.
What’s also worth noting is that it’s the most modestly priced wine named within the Top 10, one of only two available for under £30 a bottle. In fact the winning wine, Capensis which is also from South Africa, retails at almost £100 per bottle and having had it last year I can assure you it’s very nice but not three times as nice as the Uva Mira. I’d much sooner have three of them and some change!
Whilst we only have 60 bottles of the 2018 vintage left, which was the one named in the Top 10, we’ve just landed a pallet of the 2019 vintage which given the consistently high ratings, year in, year out, is sure to be another winner.
