Roodekrantz Wines is a small boutique label who crafts fine artisanal wines from selected blocks of old dry land vines of exceptional terroir. South Africa’s ‘Old Vine Project’ – which aims to keep rare old-vine fruit away from large commercial blends – saw the Burger and Morkel families release the first Roodekrantz wines in 2015. Committed to preserving these ancient Certified Old Vine Heritage Vineyards, they work closely with their growers, encouraging respectful and sustainable vineyard practices. They source old parcels from Stellenbosch, Paarl and Swartland and primarily focus on producing Chenins. Their wines are made with minimal intervention in the cellar to allow expression of the character of the vineyards. No new oak ensures the quality of the fruit and terroir shine through in every bottle.

In The Vineyard
A selection of Cabernet Sauvignon from the Stellenbosch region and Merlot and Cabernet Franc from Hemel and Aarde Valley. The name is derived from the Stellenbosch origin of the Cabernet Sauvignon.
"A winery that never believes in heavily wooding its wines, instead preferring to let the true terroir and vineyard expression shine through by way of fruit purity and textural finesse. This tantalising little red blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from Stellenbosch was spiced up with some premium Cabernet Franc from the cooler Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. This blend is a thoughtful, elegant creation that shows an impressive level of complexity and sophistication for a wine of this price. A delicious red that reveals its true complexity by whispering rather than shouting, showing complex notes of sweet blackberries, crème de cassis, and subtle blueberry nuances, all wrapped in an enchanting veil of cherry tobacco, grilled herbs, tannery leather, and graphite mineral nuances. A wine with delightful harmony and elegance that unfurls slowly in the glass to display the true pedigree of these premium Bordeaux varieties. The perfect mid-week red from a dynamic winery with impressive winemaking prowess. Drink now and over the next 3 to 5 years."- Greg Sherwood MW.
