A pinot of compelling flavour intensity and refined, granular tannins. These are as much a product of site, judicious extraction and well appropriated oak regime (15 months; 20% new French). Ferrous. Black cherry, satsuma plum and Asian spice. Forceful. Long and plush, without being fat or sweet. The tannins – grape and oak – operate as ample reins to the wine’s exuberance. Drink by 2026.

    In The Vineyard
This single vineyard wine from our home vineyard in Derril Road is further evidence of what our fine vineyard site and mature vines can produce in a really good year. It includes some wine from interesting clones grafted onto our old Cabernet vines (planted in 1983).
Medium garnet in colour with red and black cherry fruit on the nose, tightly wound around subtle yet complex aromas including licorice root, cocoa, sage and rosemary and exotic cedar spice. Opening up slowly on the palate to reveal black cherry fruit, kirsch, and more of the complex aromas that are revealing on the nose.
