After training in the Sine Qua Non cellar for eight years, Maggie Harrison got the chance to produce her own label from a small portion of the prestigious White Hawk Vineyard in Santa Barbara County. With that, she released the first vintage of 2004 Lillian Syrah/Syrah/Shiraz and has continued to produce wines from the vineyard as well as the Bien Nacido Vineyard in Santa Maria Valley, and the Stolpman Vineyard in the Santa Ynez Valley. The wines are fermented with native yeasts and are unfined and unfiltered which further adds to the finesse and elegance of Lillian.

In The Cellar
100% Syrah/Syrah/Shiraz. 11% whole cluster. Deep, lush fruit (cassis & very ripe blackberries) with mocha, cocoa and bacon fat. There are also scents of mint, a dash of iodine and a graphite minerality. Full bodied and rich, but also beautifully poised with fine-grained tannins, elegant acidity and a fine, lithe, mineral finish. Combines the savouriness and elegance of northern Rhône Syrah/Syrah/Shiraz with a lushness that is all California.

Maggie Harrison's ode to her former employer Sine Qua Non is simply stunning. She clearly was paying attention to Manfred and Elaine becuase she is fully channeling them in this fantastic bottling. With nearly 7 years in bottle this is really starting to show its stuff. Killer sourcing, killer winemaking, killer juice!
Inky ruby. Powerful, smoke-accented black and blue fruit liqueur, incense, exotic spice and potpourri scents carry a potent mineral overtone. Deeply concentrated, expansive and alluringly sweet, offering palate-staining blackberry, boysenberry, cola and violet pastille flavors and hints of star anise, allspice and bitter chocolate. Distinctly rich but energetic as well. The impressively long finish features sneaky, building tannins and insistent florality.
