The Hoopes Vineyard Napa Valley Cabernet is a wonderfully polished, silky and expressive red wine. It opens beautifully with an enticing nose of sweet dark fruits and underlying notes of licourice and nutmeg spice. The palate is rounded and generous with more silky dark fruits, plum and cherry with herbal notes and beautifully integrated oak. The long finish is silky smooth with finely balanced acidity and freshness and some savoury notes.
In The Vineyard
Our vineyards are heritage vineyards, mostly from the 1980’s and 1990‘s and grafted from “suitcase” clones of unknown origin. They are very unique to Napa’s early heritage. Indeed, Hoopes has the oldest pre-Phylloxera vineyard in Oakville. That site in particular remains a sought-out destination by wine educators and enthusiasts alike because it is a telescope into some older farming techniques and Napa’s agricultural history. This vineyard is our flagship vineyard, and was the fruit source for the first vintage of Hoopes Family Vineyard wine. We still farm and produce from this vineyard today.
This wine opens up with a gorgeous nose of black licorice and nutmeg; you might even get a hint of freshly split vanilla bean. With a great acidity and soft approach, this Cabernet Sauvignon takes you on a journey through dark fruits and earthy notes. Plum and fennel are persistent throughout, however as you continue you’ll be able to pick up the flavors of roasted mushrooms, soy, and dried cherries.
