Domaine de Montille is one of Burgundy’s greatest estates. The wines are made for ageing but in recent years, since Hubert’s son Etienne has taken over, the Domaine has moved towards expressing greater aromatic potential in the wines. The Domaine has moved progressively towards organic and now biodynamic methods working in closer harmony with nature. The wines still benefit from ageing and develop an abundance of complexity as they mature.

In The Cellar
The current style of the estate remains faithful to the naturalness and classicism of Hubert's wines, certain vintages of which required a lot of patience, but with more openness in the bouquet, and more silkiness and smoothness in the textures. We pay particular attention to the entire harvest, the proportion of which is constantly adapted according to the terroir, the age and characteristics of the plant material, and of course the vintage. Alcoholic fermentation takes place mainly in large wooden vats and aging in 228L rooms.
In The Vineyard
The estate has been practicing organic viticulture since 1995. Since 2005, biodynamics has complemented these practices that respect the soil and life. Our wines are Ecocert certified.
The plot owes its name to a chapel built in the 6th century, which has now disappeared. A cross was erected where this chapel stood, on the edge of our vineyard. It is located at the foot of the hill, on the northern slope, towards Vosne-Romanée, under the 1er cru Les Thorey. Open and fresh nose of redcurrant, blackcurrant with a touch of hibiscus flower for a Nuits with finesse. The tannins are supple, the palate harmonious, very pleasant even young.
