Phwoarrrr! Pink wines have a tough act to follow after this beauty from Clos Cantenac produced from 100% Merlot grapes grown in their own Saint Emilion vineyards.
The quality of the fruit is undeniable, it emanates from the glass in abundance with effortless elegance and a charming character of fresh, ripe peach, nectarine, mulberry and plum complemented by a saline minerality and wet slate.
Rosé doesn’t get much better than this; I beg anyone who thinks Whispering Angel is good to try it alongside this.

Pale yet vibrant pink right to the rim with a nose of savoury red fruits, elegant and fresh with a lovely leafy note, leading to a palate of fresh creamed red fruits, lightly spiced with fresh acidity going to a broad, fresh, long finish with again a hint of creamed redcurrants. Deliciously fresh and vibrant. "There are only a handful of serious rosés made in Bordeaux, and this is my favourite. 2021 L’exuberance is the most subtle, demure and dreamy release from this impressive Saint-Émilion estate, and everything about this wine is restrained, controlled and shimmeringly beautiful. Designed for elite aperitif duties, but with enough gravitas and drive to power on through starters and into carefully chosen main courses, this is raspberry, pomegranate and strawberry hull-scented wine has a bone dry, raspy and mineral-soaked finish. Extraordinarily refreshing, it is a palate-invigorating style that makes Provençal examples look clumsy and lumbering by comparison. Take note of the large formats listed above because this wine is set to amaze all-comers at the smartest summer soirées this year." - Matthew Jukes
