Bodegas Benjamin de Rothschild & Vega Sicilia was born in 2004 as a result of the union of Tempos Vega Sicilia and the Compagnie Vinicole Barón Edmond de Rothschild. Both companies share the idea of producing great wines in La Rioja, a unique, singular and inimitable wine region. After a period of five years studying terroirs and acquiring vineyards, the project takes shape in 2009: the first vintage of our two wines, Macán and Macán Clásico. The final launch of the brand occurs in 2013, with the release of the first bottles on the market. The last milestone is the construction of the winery, in the town of Samaniego, in operation since 2016.

    In The Cellar
It ferments in French oak vats for 10-15 days, its aging in new barrels lasts between 16 and 18 months, and it rests in the bottle for at least two years before going on the market.

    In The Vineyard
Macán is the flagship of the winery. It is finesse, subtlety and elegance. The grapes come from a meticulous selection of mature plots found on high terraces with poorly developed gravelly, calcareous clay soils.
Ripe red fruit with subtle notes of maturation. Blackberry, brine and dark chocolate on the nose. The palate is full with slightly rustic tannins and an angular fresh acidity and minerality that carries through to the finish.
