    When the power of love
    overcomes the love of power
    the world will know peace
    – Jimi Hendrix

The inspiration behind the name Power of Love came amidst all the turmoil the world finds itself in at the moment and having come through a 2-year COVID pandemic, Black Lives Matter movement, and all the Gender Equality issues that seem to create polarising and isolation views on people, races and culture.

We believe that we are one as a human race and look past highlighting specific groups that prevent us from experiencing all which Barth has to offer. Music is a very strong theme in our philosophy and the Jimi Hendrix quote above seems more appropriate now than ever.

    In The Cellar
Each vineyard is harvested and vinified separately to insure maximum complexity. All our fruit are hand-picked in the early morning and handled reductively to preserve the integrity of the fruit. After destemming a period of skin contact is allowed according to chemical analysis, phenolic and flavour ripeness. A light pressing is followed by 3days of cold settling to clarify the juice. A maximum of 600l/ton is recovered at this stage. Each vineyard is inoculated with selected yeast to match its flavour profile. Fermentation lasts for 21-30days at 13-16°C. 2 Months of full lees contact, with regular stirring, is allowed post fermentation to add richness and texture to the wine. The components are then blended and stabilized prior to bottling.

    In The Vineyard
The fruit for our 2022 Chenin Blanc was sourced from unirrigated old bush vines growing in the Simonsberg-Paarl region of the Western Cape of South Africa. Each site contributes a different flavour profile to the final blend as it grows on diverse soil types and slopes. Each vineyard is handled separately to capture its unique personality.
This is our first go at bottling a Chenin Blanc and it’s a vibrant, lip-smacking one at that, Fruit driven and juicy with refreshing aromas of guava, pineapple and winter melon. The palate zings with flavours of citrus, white pear, quince and lingering yellow peaches.
