Description

Aged for 20 months in oak barrels, the wine is richer and broader than its Cabernet Franc-driven counterpart, with red and black berry flavors and hints of vanilla and spice. While it is still evolving, with tannins yet to fully integrate, it retains freshness and restraint with dry, pointed tannins.

This wine is a tribute to the Winshaw family’s dedication to sustainability and regenerative farming, and it honors their pioneering great-grandfather. A cellar-worthy wine, it promises longevity and is a brilliant blend from the heart of Stellenbosch.

Food Pairing:
Best paired with grilled steak, lamb, roast beef, hard cheeses, or charcuterie.

Tasting Notes

Greg Sherwood 95

This impressive Cape Bordeaux blend of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Cabernet Franc, 17% Merlot is incredibly complex and intricate displaying aromatics of dried potpourri, spicy red currant, earthy black berries, dried herbs, hints of charcoal, graphite and dusty granitic spice. The palate is medium bodied and incredibly harmonious with fine grained mineral tannins and a bright, crunchy acidity that adds plenty of vitality and energy. This is a delightful text book Cape Bordeaux blend with notable precision, tension and accessible drinkability. Drink now to 2040+. [Greg Sherwood MW, 20/10/2025]
