Winemaker Rudger Van Wyk explains: ‘I was tracking and two barrels were just better than the rest. I didn’t plan to make a separate bottling, but… They came from 15-year-old vines planted on an abundance of shale. These two barrels has a totally unique nose that blew my mind; the nose and mouthfeel.’ From a vineyard just outside of Hemel en Aarde. 700 bottles. Imagine Dragons. Thunder. Perfumed, fragrant, rosehip peel and orange peel. So silky. So long. Something wordlessly beautiful about this quiet, under-the-curve, bridge-arced, rock-dusted wine. Scribble your words, your spaces and shapes, underground, on stones, on roses, in moss, in anger; write them, with strawberry juice bleeding down your chin, the taste of thunderstorm in your mouth and the tug of the howl of mountains.
