“A bold blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah/Shiraz, Merlot and Malbec. Dollops of violets, spiced quince and tomato bredie, with whiffs of fynbos and herb garden on a hot sunny afternoon. The tannins are firm yet refined and exquisitely round off the aromas of spice and fresh plum.

Description

The 2018 Visionaire is a smooth, elegant wine with a focused palate and a spicy, supple finish. Red and black fruits take the lead, balanced by a touch of graphite. Soft, refined tannins complement the flavors of spice and fresh plum, creating a layered and complex wine with plenty of finesse. Each grape variety in the blend adds its own character, coming together to create a wine that’s greater than the sum of its parts.

Producer Profile

A family owned wine producer located in the heart of the Franschhoek Valley. Established by owners Gerard Holden (a British investment banker in another life) & Migo Manz in 2010. The 22ha estate is situated between the Franschhoek River and Stony Brook at 300m above sea level.  With only 16 ha under vine, their focus has always been red grape varieties, though their stellar white wines, from the reserve Chardonnay, to the Chenin Blanc, and now Semillon requires further inspection. Best you read the critic’s notes and taste, to see for yourself!
