Description
CELLAR INFORMATION Composed of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve comes from 84% Sonoma County and 16% Napa County. VINEYARD INFORMATION "Our Rock Arch vineyard block, the primary source for this wine, is still going strong after 38 years. This fruit is some of the most unique that we farm, pruned to vertical cordons that create an ideal dappled-light environment for the clusters to ripen in. To this core component we added 11% cabernet from our Carolyn’s block for roundness, 5% cabernet from our Jim’s block for vibrancy and 2% petit verdot for acidity and floral notes. With an intense blue-black color and a finish that just won’t quit, it’s no wonder this wine is at the apex of our portfolio."

INTRODUCTION
The 2018 Cabernet Franc is a gorgeous expression of this grape that can be challenging in some settings but just excels on our mountaintop. The 2018 is intensely aromatic with ripe red raspberry and currant comingling with blackberry and black mission fig. Graphite, cedar, and bay leaf blend with hibiscus flowers, bergamot citrus, and exotic spices like star anise and Szechuan pepper. The palate has no hard edges, being rich and caressingly smooth, with a persistent finish that allows the vibrant fruit and spice nuances to linger like a slow-moving sunset. 2018 is a really beautiful Cabernet Franc.
CELLAR INFORMATION
With its expressive fruit, savory intrigue and seamless texture, the 2018 Cabernet Franc balances the elegance and exoticism so characteristic of the 2018 vintage. An essentially perfect growing season culminated in separate picks of our four cabernet franc blocks over a leisurely three-week period between October 15th and November 9th. Wines were aged individually in French oak barrels, 40% new, for just under a year before the blend was assembled and returned to barrel to marry for another seven months.
