Magia, the jewell in Môreson’s Cabernet Crown, undergoes 24 months ageing in French Oak and another year after that in bottle before release to the awaiting masses. Magia received critical acclaim in 2018 being awarded a Silver medal in Decanter’s World Wine Awards with a score of 93 points and also achieved the accolade of 4.5 stars out of 5 from John Platter in his annual wine guide. The result is something quite spectacular, dark maroon with tinges of red velvet in the glass, the opulent perfume offers classic cassis and rich blueberry notes. The palate is rich and complex with layers of classic Cabernet character. Enjoy this lovely thing now and over the next 10 years.

CELLAR INFORMATION Maturation occurs in 100% new oak, 225L Bordeaux barrels with the final blend comprising a barrel selection. It is not uncommon (vintage dependent) for a small percentage of the subsequent vintage to be used as a freshening component. The wine was removed from barrel and blended in October 2018 with no additional fining or pre – bottling filtration.1300 Bottles per vintage.

VINEYARD INFORMATION Franschhoek La Terra du Luc Single Vineyard Highest Elevation: 372m The Franschhoek vineyard is planted with clone CS 338 growing within a vine spacing of 3.50 x 1.75m or vine density of 2000 vines/ha. The vineyards were planted in 1998 and tend to grow vigorous if not controlled. Vineyard practices are focused on cropping yields to 6 tons/ha in two stages; lateral bunches pre – veraison and bunches uneven in colour post veraison. In the cellar, practices are minimal with focus on producing completely focused and concentrated Cabernet Sauvignon. The Franschhoek appellation has a beautiful manner in expressing very strong cassis, sometimes buchu notes on the final product.

"It s always a pleasure to taste and assess wines from the super 2017 vintage, but when it comes to Cabernet Sauvignon, there are few vintages better. This youthful expression shows a vibrant aromatic top note of sweet cedar spice, sandalwood oil, tilled earth, sun raisined black currants, wet cherry tobacco, peppermint crisp chocolate and subtle savoury vanilla oak spice nuances. This wine is at the very same moment, modern, vibrant and opulently fruited yet simultaneously fresh and classically textured with a mineral vein of graphite spice, pithy black plum, dried guava, crushed nettles, black cherry and a delightfully mouth-watering acid vibrancy on the finish. Simply delicious on so many levels. Enjoy this now or over the next 8 to 10+ years." – Greg Sherwood MW. [Greg Sherwood, 01/06/2024]
