6 x Holden Manz Big G, Franschhoek, South Africa, 2014

The 2015 vintage of Big G goes back to its roots, being comprised only of equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. There’s an undeniable Bordeaux influence in the style of the wine, which has gone from strength to strength since winemaker Thierry Haberer came on board, whilst being unashamedly South African at the same time.

Whilst Big G 2010 was a big ol’ brute needing patience and a calmly spoken word to coax out its inner beauty this latest expression is a gentle giant with oodles of charm.

6 x Holden Manz, Chenin Blanc, Western Cape, South Africa, 2018

The 2017 vintage Holden Manz Chenin Blanc is the winery’s first ever release of this Franschhoek grown expression of what is South Africa’s most planted white varietal.

Expertly crafted by winemaker Thierry Haberer, only 20% of the wine is aged in old oak barriques which adds texture rather than the toasty flavour associated with new oak. This is a very pure, yet complex, expression of Chenin with notes of green apple, pear and white flowers.

Holden Manz, Good Sport, Western Cape, South Africa, NV

A deep garnet in colour. The Holden Manz Goodsport flows into the glass and exudes intense aromas of fruit cake and sweet raisins. The palate has ripe damsons, cassis and blueberries with a hint of vanilla, cedar, chocolate and leather.
