The Balvenie DoubleWood
The Doublewood spends at least 12 years in traditional whisky casks, American Oak ex-bourbon barrels and hogsheads, and then is moved to Spanish oak ex-Oloroso sherry casks for a further nine months. This adds enormously to the flavour and hence the name, double wood, it indicates that extra layer of complexity. A long, warming and smooth drink with perfectly combined nutty and spicy notes with that important hint of sherry.
