Natte Valleij, Staatmaker, Simonsberg-Paarl, South Africa, 2017 – CLEARANCE
Back when Cinsault was the mostly widely planted red varietal in South Africa and Cabernet Sauvignon was first coming into fashion it was common practice to blend in Cinsault to bulk out the Cab and reduce cost, often without revealing the true blend on the label.
Alex Milner, winemaker at Natte Valleij, has produced Staatmaker as a proudly labelled blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon & 25% Cinsault all from grapes grown on the Simonsberg. He only made 360 bottles, and we’ve got 36 of them on their way from SA.
