Joseph Drouhin, Savigny-lès-Beaune, Clos des Godeaux, Burgundy, France, 2015
Clos des Godeaux is a small plot of just 1.6 hectares which neighbours the Premier Cru vineyard of Clos de Lavières and is solely owned by the Drouhin estate.
Joseph Drouhin takes full control of the production of this wine from start to finish, employing biodynamic farming methods, harvesting by hand and purposefully maintaining a low yield (about 20% lower than allowed by law) to ensure the quality and integrity of the fruit.
This wine offers tremendous value at a time when Burgundy prices continue to soar as a result of of compromised yields rather than an increase in quality. The palate offers both red and black fruits complemented by notes of damp earth owing to fresh rainfall and rose petals crushed underfoot.
