Jean-Baptiste Ponsot, Rully 1er, Montpalais, 2017
An ideal white Burgundy: rich, elegant and in perfect balance. On the nose, you’ll find vanilla, white flower and a whiff of pineapple. Those flavors come through on the palate, but it quickly becomes apparent that this is a mineral-driven wine with a touch of flint.
Montpalais is a 70 year old vineyard site, twice the age of winemaker Jean-Baptiste Ponsot, and the quality of fruit is clear in this magnificent, exceptional value alternative to the more famous names of Meursault and Montrachet.
