Fruit driven, cherry, blackberry, typical French style Syrah with layered spices and white pepper. Aged for 14 months in French oak barrels. Elegant structure, supple in texture, refined with a long lingering finish.

This is a testament to how barrel ageing should be used, to complement the fruit rather than disguise a lack of substance. Of all the entries within the Elgin category this was the outstanding wine, even more so now we know it’s the modestly priced IDUN and that it has gazumped the mighty Kershaw ‘Clonal Selection’ which commands a price many multiples higher.” – 95 points
