En Primeur – 6 x Clos Cantenac, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, Bordeaux 2019
This is immediately more obvious as being a barrel sample, the perfume is austere and unyielding. Reticent to relinquish its secrets. Persistence and some enthusiastic swirling yields a refined, yet dense and brooding, layer of black plum, mulberry and cassis smashed and served on a slate platter having been garnished with black pepper and violet petals. The tannins are much less malleable, more chewy than Petit and the structure formidable, promising a long life. What a wine , no wonder owner Martin Krajewski refers to the winemaker, his daughter Charlotte, as a magician 🤯
