Deux Frères, Cabernet Sauvignon, Stellenbosch, South Africa, 2015
Another delightful find from Deux Freres which demands the question of why this farm isn’t better known. They’re the smallest farm in Stellenbosch but are producing wines to be reckoned with boasting remarkable varietal purity and this 2015 vintage Cabernet Sauvignon is no exception.
Pure cassis, blackcurrant jam, blueberries, graphite, pencil lead shavings, black olive tapenade, licorice and rose petal. A full-bodied wine, layered with blackberry, mulberry and black cherry flavours. Hints of oak (70% new Hungarian) add savouriness and spice. Well balanced and fruit driven, this wine has gentle tannins and carries a long, lingering aftertaste
