Crocus, Malbec de Cahors, Cahors, France, 2012
Crocus is a collaboration between cult winemaker slash ‘Godfather of Malbec’ Paul Hobbs and Bertrand Gabriel Vigouroux, whose family has been making wine in Cahors since 1880. Their mission? To redefine Malbec in its birthplace.
This is a big, dense and brooding wine with characteristics of stewed black plum, cassis, garlic infused Saucisson, garrigue herbs and all manner of rustic Southern French loveliness.
