Cantina Rallo, Rujari, Perricone, Sicily, Italy 2016
Perricone isn’t a grape you come across often, but having discovered this wine on the warm and windswept west coast of sunny Sicily, I couldn’t deny anyone the opportunity to anyone to try this incredible wine. With the earthy tar and rose character of well made Barolo and the leafy dewy character that would be found in high end bordeaux, this wine fires on all cylinders. There’s a certain smoking-gun quality to the minerality in this juice that is intriguing and now unmistakable in my mind. A unique wine made from an obscure varietal that is sure to excite the mind with quality that far exceeds it novelty.
