Blank Bottle, Aasvoël, Stellenbosch, South Africa, 2020

Aasvoel is the Afrikaans word for vulture. Pieter found a farmer with a plot of great looking Verdelho fruit in Stellenbosch. The plot is small, not enough for anybody else to share. So Pieter sat nearby the vineyard, watching like a vulture, to make sure he secured the fruit.

The wine is made from the Verdelho grape, it is one of Pieter’s medium bodied styles, it has tangy citrus fruits with an underlying richness. It also has hints of herbs, nuts and spice with a great salinity.
