We’re delighted to be able to offer Château Séraphine 2020 available for purchase En Primeur. Unlike most releases which are offered by a veritable plethora of wine merchants around the UK we’re proud to be one of only two merchants chosen to partner with Château Séraphine.
The Pomerol property is owned and operated by an English family with Father / Daughter team Martin and Charlotte Krajewski in charge of operations and winemaking respectively. Charlotte was trained at Plumpton College before honing her craft in Bordeaux initially prior to expanding her experience at Groot Constantia in South Africa followed by stints in Australia and the USA before spending six years in Hawkes Bay with New Zealand wineries Trinity Hill and Elephant Hill. She now heads up the winemaking team at Clos Cantenac, in Saint Emilion, and Château Séraphine as Technical Director and Chief Winemaker at both of the prestigious family owned estates.
Château Séraphine has garnered praise since their inaugural maiden release, the 2017 vintage. Despite the vintage being notoriously tricky in Bordeaux it was selected by Robert Parker in his 2020 Top 100 Wine Discoveries having been selected from over 30,000 wines which were considered for the honour.
Critics haven’t been shy in their praise for the 2020 vintage with Lisa Perotti-Brown and Charles Metcalfe MW both scoring it 95 points, whilst Andrew Caillard MW and Colin Hay went a touch further at 96 points – the latter describing it as “knock-out brilliant”.
Our Managing Director, Daniel Grigg, was even more enthusiastic feeling it worthy of a potential perfect score in time whilst being almost irresistible now. His tasting note has been selected by the winery for their press release of the vintage but you can read it for yourself, whilst securing a case or two, by clicking the button below…
