Chris Erasmus’ Father’s Day recipe…

The legendary Chris Erasmus is one of South Africa’s leading chefs, with many awards and notable achievements under his belt. He calls Franschhoek home, where he lives with his wife of 16 years Alisha, and their 10-year-old son, Liam. Chris has instilled a love of food into Liam.

Father and son can often be found scouring the neighbouring forests and mountainsides together looking for ingredients. They especially love to forage mushrooms.

When not cooking together the pair can be found canoeing or fishing on the rivers of the famous wine region, or practicing archery in the mountains.

On fatherhood Chris says: “The best part for me is to witness the innocence of being human and the beautiful life lessons Liam teaches me every day. We sometimes forget what true kindness is and my soft-hearted son reminds me of that through everything he does.”

This Father’s Day, Chris shares a recipe for one of his favourite dishes: oak-roasted bone marrow with sweetbreads, raspberry pickled beef tongue and a hazelnut vinaigrette salad.

Shares Chris: “I really believe that what emotion you put into your food, the person will taste—so cook with love.”
