Stark-Condé, a First Growth of South Africa.

We’re very proud and excited to announce that Stark-Condé, located in the Jonkershoek Valley region of Stellenbosch, have appointed Museum Wines as their exclusive UK importer and distributor following a year in which they’ve been heralded for their efforts by some of the most authoritative voices on South African wine in the industry.

Rudger van Wyk was named Young Winemaker of the Year at the end of 2018 by Diner’s Club for their Stellenbosch Syrah. He was also nominated for the same accolade this year, but this time for The Field Blend – a white wine driven by Chenin Blanc alongside a supporting cast of Roussanne, Verdelho and Viognier.

When you speak to Rudger he’s just as pleased that he’s still being considered a ‘young winemaker’ by Diner’s Club as he is with the nomination itself. An enthusiasm I’m sure is shared by his peers in the ‘vintage’ category as given his recent success and the name he’s making for himself he’ll surely be ruffling some feathers amongst the established crowd once he’s aged sufficiently to be considered for the ‘Winemaker of the Year’ category.

The farm itself also received acknowledgement from Tim Atkin in his Special Report on South Africa this year, being elevated to First Growth classification alongside the likes of AA Badenhorst, Boschkloof, David & Nadia, Kanonkop and the Sadie Family.

Whilst John Platter scored every single one of their wines an impressive 4.5 stars (out of a possible 5) which is an incredible achievement and testament to the consistent quality across the range.

You can see all of their wines on our website by clicking the button below. They’ve just landed in the UK so any orders will be processed once they’ve cleared customs and arrived in our warehouse at the beginning of January.
