Uva Mira caught our attention at the end of Summer 2018 when whilst perusing the results of the Decanter World Wine Awards they had been awarded a plethora of Silver and Gold medals, as well as the highest honour available… a Platinum medal and score of 97/100 for their D.W. Syrah which is made in tiny quantities of just 600 bottles.
Since then they’ve been heralded as having produced the best expression of Cabernet Franc in all of South Africa and their Cabernet Sauvignon received the coveted 5 star accolade from John Platter as well as being named ‘Best South African red’ by Mundus Vini.
If that wasn’t quite enough… out of seven Gold Medals awarded to South African whites at the Decanter Awards this summer Uva Mira claimed three of them – one for each of their Chardonnays – whilst Tim Atkin scored their Icon Chardonnay 96/100 in his annual report on South Africa.
