Uva Mira’s multi award winning wines now available…

Uva Mira caught our attention at the end of Summer 2018 when I was perusing the results of the Decanter World Wine Awards and kept seeing their name having been awarded a plethora of Silver and Gold medals, as well as the highest honour available… a Platinum medal and score of 97/100 for their D.W. Syrah which is made in tiny quantities of just 600 bottles.

When we visited them in January this year they’d just been heralded as having cultivated the best Cabernet Franc in Stellenbosch from their mountain top  vineyard which is responsible for producing the fruit used to make The Dance, their Cab Franc single varietal, and their Bordeaux blend O.T.V. which is comprised of 52% Cabernet Franc alongside 48% Cabernet Sauvignon.

So, which of these super premium francophile flustering wines of distinction has been awarded the seal of approval that is 5 stars from one of the country’s most influential wine critics, John Platter? Well, actually, none of them.

Despite the aforementioned wines all scoring 4.5 stars, which equates to 94/100 for O.T.V. and D.W. and 92/100 for The Dance, it was actually the more modestly priced The Mira Cabernet Sauvignonwhich came home with a score of 95/100 and 5 stars – somewhat showing up its much bigger brothers.

The Mira Cabernet Sauvignon is available for just £24.99, exclusively from Museum Wines, and was described as “showcasing its cool mountain provenance with complexity, depth & varietal character without exaggeration. The 18 months of barrel fermentation is effortlessly integrated making this an ageworthy classic that improves on the 2014 (which scored 4 stars)”
