Description

VINEYARD INFORMATION 2015 was a wonderful growing year, particularly for those with the ‘terroirs’ that were able to cope with the long periods of drought and high temperatures. Fortunately, for Clos Cantenac their vines are largely situated on either deep gravels or shallow sandy soils over gravels/clay and broken limestone, and so fared very well during the prolonged period of drought leading to water deficit as a result of the lack of rain from April until August. The quality of the harvest was very high, easily equal to 2009 and 2010 vintages.

Aging: 14 months in 40% New French Oak

Reviews

Robert Parker 92

This wine is made from 100% Merlot and is being aged in French oak barrels, 40% new, for 12 months. The alcohol came in at 14%. The 2019 Clos Cantenac comes galloping out of the glass with bold, energetic scents of baked black cherries, mulberries and crushed blackberries plus hints of menthol, chocolate box, pencil lead and forest floor. The medium to full-bodied palate is laden with juicy black fruit, framed by rounded, approachable tannins and bags of freshness, finishing long and graceful. [Lisa Perrotti-Brown, 12/06/2020]
